This was from PeopleTools 8.50. I didn't think this would have changed between versions but maybe it did. Unfortunately I don't have an 8.49 install handy to check. - Brent Martin

We started playing with GA a few days ago and I noticed your blog / post on placing the Google Analytics code in the HTML object PT_HNAV_TEMPLATE on several sites. What tools version were you using? We are on PT 8.49 and can't seem to find an object with such a name (PT_HNAV_TEMPLATE). Any suggestions? - Keith Martin

I've been using Google Analytics w/ PeopleSoft for a couple of years

Brent, good post. I've been using Google Analytics (GA) for a couple of years now to track usage in my PeopleSoft Portal, HR, and Financials environments. Overall, I have been pleased with the capabilities in GA - and of course you can't beat the cost of the software or the implementation costs (very low and free). The power of the tool really is in the advanced filtering functionality which supports the use of regular expressions to reformat PeopleSoft's gangly URL structures. I have filters that just pluck the important parts of the PeopleSoft URL out and use that to register the actual utilization, which makes useful reporting MUCH easier. I've done a some presentations on this topic over the last couple of years at the Alliance conference (hosted by the Higher Education User Group). - Randy McCausland

Have you tested a scenario where Internet access is down?

If your users are accessing PeopleSoft internally but your pages have external JavaScript includes, they may get browser errors/or timeouts if their internet connection is interrupted.
