Some of the reasons you might need to bounce the process scheduler: 1) Something gets locked up; 2) You want to reduce the memory footprint of the running processes; 3) You want to activate a configuration change; 4) Clear in-memory cache.

In general you shouldn't have to reboot app servers or process schedulers during the normal course of business. But I know companies that reboot and clear cache after migrations to make sure they get cached appropriately, or do therapeutic reboots weekly just to avoid any problems during the week. - Brent Martin

Hi

I'm new to Peoplesoft. Could you please tell me why we have to bounce the process scheduler and app domain server? Is it just to clear the cache or anything else. Can any one elaborate on this? - deepak
