Applications Development Manager



POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for leading the internal application development of PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM), Finance and Supply Chain Management (FSCM), Kronos and all other enterprise applications where necessary. Coordinate users groups, managing identified projects, upgrades or development as necessary to provide the highest level of customer support. Supervises technical development staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Design/manage medium-to high complexity technical solutions from a functional design specification.
2. Develop and adapt technical solutions/options into detailed technical design documents, complete with pseudo-code where appropriate, ensuring all functional requirements are met in the technical design.
3. Provide and ensure that all development standards are taken into consideration in the functional and technical design/solution phase.
4. Review technical designs with technical team, functional team and systems operations team (where appropriate) to ensure that solution is modular and has the appropriate level of scalability for the given architecture.
5. Have an extensive understanding of the functionality and test data that will be required to Build/Unit Test/User Acceptance Test the application.
6. Construct/review code based on a technical design, following all development standards.
7. Unit test all functional and technical requirements and document into Unit Test Plan.
8. Perform/manage functional walkthroughs with developers and functional owner to ensure completeness.
9. Ensure migration standards set by technical architecture team are followed, including any required installation documentation.
10. Ensure/review all code is well documented and can be navigated by others in the future.
11. Understand and apply the Shared Services development and testing methodology (e.g., understand and review requirements of service request, code, code review, unit test prep, unit test review, and team lead review). Responsible for the development, implementation and compliance of policies and procedures specific to development, testing, maintenance, and application of enhancements, upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and anomaly fixes; managing the software development lifecycle.
12. Develop and demonstrate functional and technical understanding of client's business processing in areas of assignment.
13. Understand how own work units/modules integrate with other work units and with the system as a whole.
14. Supervise the analysis, design, code and implemented changes to resolve break/fix issues to resolve and close tickets. Ensure that appropriate communication related to these issues as outlined in service levels is maintained.
15. Lead/supervise project resources to resolve issues in a timely manner and ensure deliverable quality.
16. Identify, address and provide solutions to open issues related to Service Requests.
17. Ensure assigned service level performance metrics are achieved
18. Manages all applications development, including PeopleSoft HCM, FSCM, Kronos and any other applications systems that may be supported
19. Works with customers as an expert advisory resource directing projects in accordance with Project Management Institute (PMI PMBOK) methodology.
20. Manages projects designed to increase the efficiency of PeopleSoft and other applications.
21. Implements team goals and objectives to achieve maximum functionality of the PeopleSoft ERP and other applications to ensure high customer satisfaction in the use of those applications.
22. Recruit and lead a strong technical staff; provide mentoring, coaching, career counseling and performance development and management. Responsible for maximizing team performance, and evaluating individual team member productivity to ensure high customer satisfaction and productive collaboration with other Shared Services team members.
23. Works with partners and others as needed to implement projects to achieve maximum value to enterprise shared services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or a related field is required.
Must have ten to fifteen years PeopleSoft ERP development management experience.
Must have ten to fifteen years business systems experience coming up through the application development ranks with full software development lifecycle experience.
Must have five years experience with ERP project management including milestones, tasks, issues, risks and budget responsibilities.
Must have operational knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, Finance and Supply Chain applications, People Tools and People Code Must have working knowledge of PeopleSoft North American Payroll, Tax Updates, W-2 year end processing, Kronos interfaces.
Must have working knowledge of one or more of the following PeopleSoft Financial applications: Payroll to General Ledger interface; Payroll to Accounts Payable interface.
Must have working knowledge of Crystal Reports and nVision.
Must possess strong troubleshooting skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience as an installer or DBA on at least two PeopleSoft implementations or upgrades.
Eight to ten years PeopleSoft programming/technical experience including use of Application Designer, Application Engine, PeopleCode, SQR, and SQL is required.
PMI or CompTIA Certification


PeopleSoft Senior Payroll Developer


POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for development and production support of PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM)North America and related interface to General Ledger and Accounts Payable, providing enterprise-wide PeopleSoft Payroll technical support and consultation. This position will focus on the technical view of the North America Payroll application with emphasis on the impact, implications, and functional/technical benefit of enhancements, as well as the design and implementation of customizations and fixes to the production system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for development of PeopleSoft North America Payroll application 8.9, to include development and production support.
2. Develops custom reports and queries as required for HCM applications, PeopleSoft Components/Pages, PeopleSoft messaging to third party systems, and security integration.
3. Document and develop customer requirements.
4. Identifies gaps between business requirements and the PeopleSoft North America Payroll application; proposes solutions and approaches to closing gaps via process re-design or application configuration.
5. Identifies problems and/or potential issues, formulating systemic solutions or proposing business process alternatives to meet business requirements.
6. Assists in application testing by building test data and developing test scenarios and scripts.
7. Contributes to creation of detailed design documents to identify hardware and software requirements for various Payroll projects.
8. Responsible for keeping abreast of hardware and software developments including theory and technique.
9. Establishes good communication channels with user community by maintaining consistent bi-directional flow of information.
10. Responsible for tax updates and year end processing.
11. Performs other job-related duties as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or Finance is required.
Ten years PeopleSoft experience in HCM and FSCM environments is required.
Ten years business systems experience is required.
Ten years PeopleSoft programming/technical experience including use of Application Designer, Application Engine, PeopleCode, SQR, and SQL is required.
Must have knowledge of the PeopleSoft system at senior level.
Must have strong knowledge of PeopleSoft North America Payroll, Tax Updates, W-2 year end processing, Kronos interfaces.
Must have working knowledge of one or more of the following PeopleSoft Financial applications: Payroll to General Ledger interface; Payroll to Accounts Payable interface.
Must have a solid understanding of PeopleSoft web based architecture and desktop troubleshooting.
Must have the ability to think analytically, manage change, and participate in multi-directional communication.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with PeopleTools version 8.49, PeopleSoft Enterprise 8.9.

Ten plus years experience with ERP installation and systems development.

Prior experience doing conversions using Component Interfaces.
Knowledge and experience in SQL Server environment.
