Looks like Oracle is going to continue their strategy of buying their way to the top, with a renewed focus on Middleware. I liked this quote: "We want to be No. 1 in all the segments," Ellison said. "It is not for vanity. If you are not No. 1, you don't make much money." In other Oracle news, analysts predict that Oracle will cut CRM jobs. Most of these cuts are thought to happen in the teams that develop Oracle and PeopleSoft CRM product lines, not the Siebel team from which the core Fusion CRM application will come. "...further headcount reductions among PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards employees may occur shortly as the company begins to implement its longer-term vision for Fusion" Update: Oracle plans to cut 2000 jobs as a result of the Siebel merger. |
