OpenWorld 2007 - Tuesday Print
Written by Brent Martin
Wednesday, 14 November 2007

I'm still not in San Francisco at OpenWorld, but I'm trying to stay on top of recent OpenWorld news and announcements. There doesn't seem to be as many blogs updated as there were last night at this time.  It seems like Tuesday night was always the partners night to take clients out, so there are probably a lot of bloggers taking part in the festivities.  I'm sure if I were in San Francisco right now, I wouldn't be blogging.

Anwyay, here's what I've found so far:

1) Larry Grey has some great information about their own "Operational Excelence with PeopleSoft Version Control" presentation, along with answers to questions about the Future of FSI Analytic Apps, the Future of Reporting Tools, Positioning for Fusion, and development plans for financials and financial services.  I'd certainly like to see more information about PeopleSoft-relevant sessions -- if you know of some please send me the link.  If you're looking for a place to post your own notes but you don't have a blog, I'd love to post them here in PS Corner for you.  Either way use the contact us link on the main page.

2)  Analysts have been less than impressed with Oracle's Virtualization announcement yesterday, and they're drawing parallels to Oracle's October '06 announcement about Oracle's Enterprise Linux announcement -- no big deal.  They see it as little more than a way to deliver virtual appliances.  Hope you didn't sell your VMWare stock yesterday!

3)  Cisco announced a new protocol developed jointly with Oracle that speeds up Oracle databases running on large clusters and makes them more scalable.  I'll be honest -- I tried to read the article, but I realized that networking protocols are about as interesting to me as watching paint dry, grass grow, old golf reruns, and readng the phone book.

4) A man was murdered outside of OpenWorld last night.
