XML Publisher Article on OTN

Mark Rittman has a great XML Publisher article available on OTN.

Part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware family of products, Oracle XML Publisher 5.6.2 is a Java-based product that gives you the ability to define, publish, secure and schedule reports built using SQL and XML data sources. Originally developed as a technology within E-Business Suite, Oracle XML Publisher is now available for download from eDelivery as a stand-alone product, and can be deployed using J2EE application servers such as Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE (OC4J) or Apache Tomcat. Best of all, XML Publisher uses familiar desktop tools such as Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat to define report layouts, meaning that users can design their reports in a familiar environment without having to install and learn a whole new toolset.

PeopleSoft Enterprise will integrate XML Publisher in PeopleTools 8.48, so it'll be a good idea to start getting familiar with it.

The XML Publisher is a joke and will never compare to SQR reporting. Can XML Publisher read validate and update data on the report in case a flat file has errors? can it spit a report and post it to GL?

can it read vendor files in other formats or just XML? Can it report and give a salary increase to only ten % of a company with 10,000 employees? Man there is a lot I would like to know about XML Publisher. Can it denormalize many tables an report on them. Other than that nice blog man and thanks for the info...I'll check back soon. smilies/smiley.gif

When I run XML publisher reports frequently I get out of memory error. How to resolve it and why we encounter it.As far as I know it can be due to low memory but my server is of 4GB,Zero-height ole object, memory allocated to reports not been realesed(I feel this could be the reason but how to resolve this),due to Queries (but my queries in the AppEngine execute pretty fast).
Thanks in Advance

Unfortunately other than a class I took on XML Publisher at OpenWorld a couple of years back, I don't have any XML Publisher experience. Hope you got your problem resolved!
