PeopleTools 8.48 is released Print
Friday, 21 July 2006
Oracle released PeopleTools 8.48 on Monday. It has a lot of cool new features, presumably to power the PeopleSoft 9 application set into the future. These features include:

  • Support for Solaris 10, SuSE Enterprise Linux 9 Win2K3 64-bit, SQL Server 2005, and the Safari web browser

  • Support for 64-bit processing on AIX, Solaris, HPUX (pa-risc) and Linux (zSeries)

  • Oracle BPEL Process Manager integration with a design-time license (you have to pay extra for the run-time license)

  • XML Publisher Integration

  • Change Impact Analyzer helps you determine the "impact of specific changes you plan to make during an application upgrade"

  • Change Assistant can now run data mover and SQL concurrently on different servers

  • BEA Jolt Session Pooling allows web server connections to be shared between user sessions. This reduces the usage of system resources, such as threads and file descriptors

  • Enhanced Jolt Failover and Load Balancing options

  • Stateful session replication for Web Server Clusters allows you to reduce risk of an end-user loosing data when a web server fails

  • More detailed crash dump on UNIX

  • Administrators can specify objects to pre-load into Application Server cache on startup

  • Parallel start and stop of App Server processes

  • SSL is supported for the REN server

  • Secure web services at the user level

  • Config Manager now uses Triple DES Encryption

  • Oracle actually delivers the software required for implementing single signon between Oracle applications and PeopleSoft applications (SSOPlugin.zip and PSTokenClear.ear).

  • Integration broker has moved to a service-oriented architecture. This involves some significant changes that probably justifies its own blog entry (or entries). Check out the release notes for more info.

  • Composite compare reports enhance your ability to identify customizations

  • Enhanced Visual compare and merge makes re-customizing pages easier

  • File Merge for external text files interface allows you to compare and merge those SQR and COBOL customizations

  • PT_WORKLIST web service allows third-party systems to create and monitor PeopleSoft worklist entries using web services

Looking forward to working with this new module. So far, I'm estatic about stateful session replication on web server clusters, improvement on Change Assistant and parallel start/stop of application server processes.
